RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - Very warm weather is on the way for the next few days, with the exception of Friday where we could very well see a huge north to south temperature difference of the area.
Tonight, you can expect more clouds than clear skies in the area. We will stay somewhat mild as lows will only fall into the mid to upper 40s.
Thursday will start off with partly sunny conditions and then turn partly cloudy. Highs will be warming into the mid to upper 70s.
The winds will also start to pick up and should be somewhat gusty during the afternoon and evening hours.
Friday is going to be a very difficult day to forecast in the area. A backdoor cold front is going to drop into the area during the afternoon. South of the front it will be partly cloudy and very warm with high in the lower to middle 80s. North of the front, you may not get out of the 60s with clouds and showers. In the middle—right over us, it will al hinge on the timing of the system. Later in the afternoon and we are near 80. Early, and it is going to be much cooler.
While this is going on, we will be watching severe weather out over the Gulf Coast Region.
That system will crank up in a hurry and then zip into the Great Lakes on Saturday. That will start our weekend off with a risk of showers in the region.
We will return to very nice weather on Sunday with mostly sunny skies and comfortable temperatures.
Next week I am watching for a system that looks to be Tuesday night and Wednesday. This could be a big storm in the northeast. However the models are still a little disjointed on it.
